Education
& Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, aims at improving the access
(both Quantitative and Qualitative) to Primary Education of School-aged
children in all areas. The key objectives of School Nutrition Programme are as
follows:
i.Improve
nutritional status of Primary School children by mitigation micronutrient deficiencies
particularly anemia and vitamins.
ii.Increase enrollment, attendance
and reduce dropout at primary level.
iii.Reduce gender disparities at
primary level.
The
School Nutrition Programme will provide High Quality food every day at first
break in the morning in the Government Primary Schools including Pre-Primary
(Kachi Class).
The
programme will be implemented in 2009-10. The programme will initially start in
three districts namely Dadu, Benazirabad, and Khairpur, and will cover
approximately 8,000 to 10,000 schools. The Education & Literacy Department
intends to prequalify various catering firms / institutions / NGOs / suppliers
to deliver the nutrient food at each primary school of the above three
districts.
Prequalification
documents containing evaluation criteria can be obtained from the office of
Director Planning & Development, Education & Literacy Department, 2nd
Floor, Sindh Secretariat No. 3, OldKDABuilding, Karachi, free of cost, during office
hours from 06.01.2010 and will be received up to 2.00
p.m. on 20.01.2010. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued to only
qualified firms.
