Aga Khan University (AKU) invites applications for the following position:

PROFESSOR AND CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY HEALTH SCIENCES

AKU's Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) has adopted a leadership model in community-oriented public health and social development, recognised regionally and internationally for its work to address community's health needs and to strengthen health systems in partnership with the communities, government. NGOs and academic institutions nationally and internationally.

CHS works in education, service and research through its six operational units: Health Systems, Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Environment & Occupational Health, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Reproductive Health & Gender, and Community Health. Besides contributing to the MBBS Programme, CHS offers graduate degrees in Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health & Management and Clinical Research, as well as Community Medicine Residency and a Continuing Education Programme.

The Chair will provide leadership for the department's education, research and development activities, and will promote independent and collaborative public health research initiatives within the university and its outreach programmes, as well as with the government and other national and international institutions.

The applicant should either be a physician with certification in a specialty related to public health, or have a doctorate in any public discipline (DrPH / PhD / DSc). S / he should have extensive published experience reflecting in-depth knowledge of public health programmes and a level of academic accomplishment sufficient to be appointed as a full Professor.
